Christopher articled and practiced at a full-service firm before establishing Funt & Company Litigation Counsel in 2012.
As an advocate, Christopher has a breadth of experience representing clients in criminal, civil, tax, and administrative disputes. He has acted as lead counsel in litigation before all levels of court in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Alberta*, as well as before the Tax Court of Canada and the Federal Court of Canada. He excels in matters that do not fit into the silos of hyperspecialized practice; for example, he has:
-obtained complete stays of proceeding in all three of the tax evasion prosecutions on which he has been retained;
-obtained resolution of civil forfeiture allegations prior to examinations for discovery;
-obtained complete stays of proceedings for clients facing sex assault allegations, and house arrest dispositions where convictions could not be avoided;
-acted on appeals resulting in the overturning of indeterminate sentences as well as convictions for violent crime;
-represented clients in administrative disputes involving child protection, agricultural land regulation, Medicare enrollment, involuntary detention for mental healthcare, and energy regulation; and,
-represented clients in civil litigation against the federal and provincial governments involving issues of battery, unlawful search, physician licensure, and forestry contracting.
